Danielle Schafer, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Schafer started working at Oneonta Veterinary Clinic (OVH) in May of 2021. She is originally from Long Island; she went to SUNY Cobleskill for her undergraduate education and earned her Bachelor of Animal Science. She continued her education at Ross University of Veterinary Medicine on the beautiful Caribbean Island St. Kitts & Nevis. She completed her clinical rotations at Cornell University of Veterinary Medicine and awarded her DVM in 2020. Her professional interest is soft tissue/orthopedic surgery, radiology, nutrition, theriogenology and internal medicine.
Dr. Schafer is particularly interested in small ruminant medicine, orthopedic surgery, nutrition. She enjoys working as a team at OVH and takes pride in being able to provide high quality care to her clients and patients.
Outside of work, you can find Dr. Schafer outside on her small hobby farm. She has two goats, two quarter horses, one donkey, sixty-five chickens, four dogs and one famous cat. She enjoys riding her four-wheelers, playing softball and gardening. Fun fact about Dr. Schafer, she was a guest on the Dr. Oz Show and The Tamron Hall Show for her cat Kitty saving her life in a house fire while attending Cornell.
